It was a wonderful rest day inAmarillo. Lovely and sunny with a clear blue sky, and out of the wind it was nice and warm. We caught up with a lot of "chores" first thing. While Pat got all the washing up to date, I cleaned out the van.
We had seen that the American Quarterhorse Association had its museum and headquarters here and found out the Saturday opening hours, so when it was time we headed to it. It was an extremely impressive place, and very well done. Of great interest was their special exhibition recognising the deeds of women in the development of the breed. Certainly some very influential ones, and I think the museum would not be a reality in its wonderful format if it hadnt been for the generosity of 2 of them.
I have long thought the quarterhorse to be a versatile horse - and that was exactly as they described them.
After the tour we went on a little drive around the city which was very quiet for a Saturday morning. I think everyone was shopping in the 'burbs. Stopped at a local Walmart to stock up supplies for the van, and get salad and rotisserie chicken for our lunch / dinner.
After cleaning the van's window so Pat could see more clearly when driving into the sun each morning, I gave Finn a clean with degreaser and then lubed the chain etc. It is amazing just how dirty the bike gets!!
It cools down in the evenings, but there was a beautiful sunset to end the lovely day.
